LumenRec is a small reading desk for candy, dessert and fruit games. Each entry says what a game asks of your hands and your evening, how long one sitting really lasts, and what the Canadian Google Play page charges for it — then leaves the installing entirely to you.

Four short steps. No account, nothing to fill in, nothing sold on this side of the screen.

How to start with a game from this index

  1. Read the entry first

    Every entry describes the pace, the controls and the length of one sitting, so you know before you install whether a game suits a bus ride or a long evening at the table.

  2. Open the Google Play listing

    Follow the title on the Canadian store page. Ratings, review counts and prices quoted here were copied from that listing and can be changed by the developer at any time.

  3. Check the device and the language

    All three titles run in English on current Android phones and tablets. Two of them are one-time purchases in the store; the third installs at no charge and carries advertising inside the game.

  4. Install from Google Play, never from here

    LumenRec hosts no files and sells nothing. The one-time purchase in the store is made with Google, and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own rules.

The index

Three sweet games worth a careful hour

Two dessert-counter simulations from Flipline Studios and one candy puzzle from BitMango. They were chosen because they hold up on a phone with a mediocre connection and because none of them shouts at the player.

You run a paleta stand on a seaside boardwalk: take the order at the counter, freeze the pop in the right mould, then finish it with dips, drizzles and fruit while the queue keeps moving behind you. The pressure comes from memory rather than speed, because an order read badly at the till cannot be repaired at the topping table.

It is the most generous of the three with time: one customer takes roughly a minute from ticket to counter, and the day always ends, so a session has a natural stopping point. The Play listing marks in-app items for extra shop stock, which the game never demands.

The Freezeria splits a sundae into four stations — order, build, mix, top — and the HD layout keeps every control within a thumb's reach on a tablet. Where the Paleteria rewards patience, this one rewards routine: the mixer runs on a timer you learn to feel rather than watch.

Sessions close cleanly at the end of a workday, which makes it the better of the two for short sittings. It is the priciest entry in the index and the one we would keep for a tablet rather than a small phone.

A tile-matching board of candies, jellies and layer cakes with a fixed number of moves per level and boosters you assemble by clearing more than three pieces at once. Levels are short, the board explains itself without a tutorial, and progress is stored on the device.

It is the lightest title here and the only free install, which it pays for with advertising between levels and optional in-app items. Read the Play listing before installing if interruptions bother you.

Session lengths and the LumenRec score are our own timings and judgement on a mid-range Android phone; the genre, the store price and everything marked as a Play figure come from the Canadian listing and may have moved since we read it.

There is no advertising on this site, no analytics of our own, no newsletter and no account. The only third party involved is Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the pages as a content delivery network and may add its own service files for that purpose.
